About DuxburyCARES

We are citizens organizing in support of the proposed Duxbury school building project. We are taxpayers, parents, small business owners, educators, medical professionals, realtors and volunteers who believe that the best, most cost-effective, educationally-appropriate, long-term approach to our school building crisis is to support the co-located building plan as put forth by the School Building Committee.

The evidence presented in the Spring 2010 Feasibility Study was a an eye-opener to us. While the basic framework of the buildings are sound, the failing systems are creating conditions that could lead to health and safety concerns. We have an opportunity now to build a better, more energy efficient, learning-supportive school  with financial support from the state -- support that may not be there in the future.

In March, 2011, Duxbury voters approved design monies for a co-located middle and high school. Since that time, a designer and owner's project manager were chosen, and the design process begun. In a very short period of time, significant progress has been made. With that initial investment, we must now vote for construction funds to complete the project.

As such, we are now committed to educating and motivating the community to vote FOR the school building project at Special Town Meeting AND at the town election to be held in the October/November time frame. As soon as we have exact dates, we will post them.

We need your help. We need you to talk to  your friends and neighbors about the importance of this project to our schools and our community as a whole. We need you to attend the Special Town Meeting and to vote in the special town election. We cannot and must not become complacent in this effort; everyone must be present and vote.

Please email us at DuxburyCARES@gmail.com to learn how you can help. You can also follow us on Facebook and on Twitter at @DuxburyCARES.

Sincerely,

DuxburyCARES
